This privacy policy is effective as of 28.02.2021.

Changes to this privacy policy:
We may change this privacy policy at any time by publishing the amended version on this website, including the effective date of the amended version. We will notify you of any material changes to this privacy policy by e‑mail.
In compliance with data protection regulations, we process your personal data only if a legal provision permits this or if you have given your consent. This also applies to the processing of personal data for advertising and marketing purposes.
On our website we may also collect information that by itself does not allow direct conclusions to be drawn about your person. In certain cases — in particular in combination with other data — this information may nevertheless be considered “personal data” under data protection law. Furthermore, we may also collect information on our website that does not allow us to identify you directly or indirectly; this is the case, for example, with aggregated information about all users of our website.
2. WHICH PERSONAL DATA WE COLLECT
You can generally visit our website without providing personal information (such as your name, postal address or e‑mail address). We collect, use and store personal data about you and the devices (including mobile devices) you use when:
- you use our services
- you set up an account
- you provide us information via a web form
- you add or update information to your account
- you participate in community discussions or chats
- or when you otherwise contact us.
We also use social network plugins through which those social networks may collect data.
Some of your personal data (email address, billing address if applicable) are required to conclude and perform the contract of use. Providing any other personal data is voluntary but may be necessary to use our services, for example the offer or contact information required to place an advertisement or the data required to create a report you have commissioned.
We may also collect personal data from other sources as detailed below.
Personal data you provide when using our services or setting up an account:
- Data that personally identifies you, such as your name, addresses, telephone numbers, e‑mail addresses that you provide during registration, setting up a user account or otherwise (e.g. in a survey or to request information).
- Placing ads, responses to ads, data you provide in a transaction or financing request, and other transaction-related content you generate (e.g. listings and other content you generate or that relate to your user account, your search queries, views and saves of listings or searches, use of the contact function in listings, commissioning of reports or financing requests).
- Payment information (e.g. credit card or bank account numbers).
- In certain cases you provide your interests and personal preferences when using our services.
- Data you provide via a web form, by updating or adding data to your account, by participating in community discussions or chats or when we communicate with you for other reasons (problem resolution, correspondence/feedback, etc.).
- Data we are required or entitled to collect and process under applicable law and that we need for authentication, identification or to verify data we have collected (e.g. in case of suspected violation of our Terms of Use, where legally permissible, a copy of identification or an invoice may be required to verify your address or identity).
- Newsletter Registration: If you wish to receive the newsletter offered by Classic Trader GmbH, we require a valid email address. To verify that you are the owner of the provided email address or that the owner agrees to receive the newsletter, we send an automated email after the first registration step. Only after confirming the newsletter registration via a link in the confirmation email will we add the email address to our distribution list. Apart from the email address and the confirmation data, we do not collect further data.
Personal data we automatically collect when you use our services or set up an account:
- We routinely collect data about your interaction with our services, your advertising preferences and your communications with us. These are device-related information (including mobile devices) you use to access our services. Such data may include device ID or unique identifier, device type, advertising ID and unique device token. This data is only associated with you if you log in as a registered user or if you provide us with your email address or other identifying data while using our websites, applications, services or tools.
- Location information and geolocation data, including from your mobile device. Please note that most mobile devices allow you to control or disable location services for an app in the device settings.
- Computer and connection information such as statistics about your page views, traffic to and from the websites, referral URL, ad data, your IP address, pages you visited within our website and services and information from web server log files.
Personal data we collect using cookies, web beacons and similar technologies:
- We use cookies, web beacons, unique identifiers and similar technologies to collect data about the pages you visit, the links you click and other actions you take in connection with our services and in our advertising or e‑mail content.
- Further information about our use of these technologies and how you can limit them is available in our Cookie Statement.
Personal data from other sources:
- We supplement the personal data we collect directly from you with information collected from third parties and add it to your account information where permitted by applicable law. Information obtained from third parties may include demographic data that is publicly available, additional contact details, credit check data and information from credit reporting agencies or authorities.
- Social Networks: We enable you to share information via social networks or to link your account with the social network. Those social networks may automatically grant us access to certain personal data stored about you (e.g. content you viewed, content you liked and information about ads shown to you or you clicked on). Which personal data we can access is controlled by the privacy settings on the social network site and the permissions you grant to us. If you link a social media-managed account to your account and grant us access, we process the information provided by those social media websites in accordance with this privacy policy.
Personal data collected by social networks (Social Media Plugins)
- Our website integrates plugins from various social networks such as Facebook Inc., USA (“Facebook”; Overview of Facebook Plugins), Twitter Inc., USA (“Twitter”, overview of the “Tweet Button” or “Follow Button”), Pinterest Inc., USA (“Pinterest”, Pin-It Button) and Instagram LLC., USA (“Instagram”, overview of “Camera” buttons) (information available by clicking the link for each network). When you visit a page on our website containing such a plugin, a direct connection is established between your browser and the server of the respective social network via the plugin. The social network provider thus receives information that you visited our website with your IP address. If you click the plugin while logged into your user account with the respective social network, you can link content from our website to your social network profile. The social network can then associate your visit to our website with your user account. We do not receive any knowledge of the content of the transmitted data or how the social network uses it. More information can be found in the privacy policies of the social networks at Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram.
- Please note that you must be logged out of the respective social network user account when visiting our website if you do not want the social network to associate your visit with your user account.

We may use technologies that constitute automated decision‑making or profiling (Art. 22 GDPR). We will not make automated decisions that significantly affect you unless such a decision is necessary for executing a contract with you, we have obtained your consent, or we are legally required to use such technology.
4. DISCLOSURE AND TRANSFER OF YOUR DATA BY US
Your personal data is generally processed within our company. Depending on the type of personal data, only certain departments/units have access to your personal data. This includes, in particular, departments involved in providing our digital offerings (e.g. website) and our IT department.
We may transfer your personal data to third parties for the following purposes:
- To Classic‑Trader sellers (dealers and private sellers), e.g. to forward a contact request you initiated to the respective dealer;
- To cooperating inspectors commissioned by you in the context of CT Inspections. In the course of requesting an inspector to take on a specific inspection assignment, only your location and postal code are transmitted; a list of cooperating inspectors is available on request.
- To insurers you designate to receive reports prepared within CT Inspections.
- To law enforcement authorities, third parties in court proceedings and authorized third parties:
- To comply with our legal obligations, to enforce our Terms of Use, to defend claims that an ad or other content infringes third‑party rights, or to protect the rights, property or safety of third parties;
- To law enforcement, governmental agencies or authorized third parties in connection with a request for information related to an investigation or suspicion of a crime, unlawful act or other conduct that may give rise to legal liability for us, you or another user. We will disclose only information relevant to the investigation or request, such as name, city, postal code, telephone number, e‑mail address, IP address, listing content, fraud complaints;
- To rights holders who have entered into a confidentiality agreement with us in connection with an investigation into fraud, intellectual property infringement or other unlawful conduct, if we deem it necessary or appropriate. In such cases we share name, address, city, postal code, country, telephone number, e‑mail address, company name and listing content; the confidentiality agreement requires that the data be used only in connection with legal proceedings and/or seeking legal advice and/or responding to inquiries by the user who posted the listing;
- To third parties initiating or involved in litigation if they present a legal order, court order or equivalent legal instrument, or when in good faith we believe disclosure is necessary to prevent imminent danger to life or limb or financial loss or to report suspected unlawful activity.
- To credit reporting agencies where permissible under applicable law.
- To service providers we engage to support our business operations and with whom we cooperate in accordance with our Terms of Use or principles for fraud and/or security incidents. When we transfer personal data (including listing content) to such third-party providers, this occurs solely on the basis of a written contract (data processing agreement) that limits the third party’s use of personal data and requires them to implement security measures. These third parties include:
- Parties that help operate the website and provide our services (including feedback solutions, hosting and email delivery) and enhanced display options, specifically integration of maps in listings with dealer location, and for delivering personalized advertising. Location information of registered commercial car dealers for showing map locations in listings may be transmitted to external service providers located outside the European Economic Area (EEA) under appropriate safeguards to ensure comparable data protection levels. You can request the specific third-party providers from us at any time via the contact details provided.
- Third parties of websites, applications and tools with which we cooperate under our Terms of Use so that they may publish or promote your listings and their content on their website or in their apps and tools. In particular, these third parties are not permitted to sell, rent or otherwise share the personal data contained in your listings.
- Parties assisting with payment processing and debt collection;
- Carriers and logistics providers;
- Third parties in partner programs or cooperation partners, such as warranty providers for classic vehicles, (valuation) appraisers or insurers for classic vehicles; we also share listing content with print magazines to promote listings and extend their reach;
- Financial institutions and other partners in the financial sector with which we cooperate to offer financing products like vehicle financing and insurance or financing comparisons. These financial partners use your personal data only to the extent you have provided appropriate consent.
- Other third parties to whom we send your data at your explicit request (or whom you were expressly notified about and consented to when using a specific service).
- Owners of industrial property rights if the owner or an authorized third party believes in good faith that a listing infringes the owner’s rights. Before the owner receives personal data (name, address, city, postal code, country, telephone number, e‑mail address, company) they must enter into a confidentiality agreement limiting use to legal proceedings, seeking legal advice and/or responding to queries from the user who posted the listing.
Some recipients of your personal data are located outside the European Union or the European Economic Area (“third countries”) or have establishments in countries where data protection laws may provide a different level of protection than those in your country. Before transferring your personal data to such recipients, we ensure appropriate safeguards to guarantee an adequate level of protection, e.g. by concluding data protection agreements based on EU Commission model clauses (e.g. standard contractual clauses) with the recipients and additional measures, or by other legally provided means. Further information can be obtained from us on request using the contact details provided.
Information you publish on our website and transmit to other users
Our online marketplace allows users to publish listings and other information that other users can access. Since you can contact other users directly via our marketplace, we recommend you carefully consider which personal data you publish and to whom you disclose it. You are solely responsible for personal data you publish on our marketplace, and we cannot guarantee the protection or security of data shared in this way.
Stay signed in
When you sign in to our services to your account, you remain signed in for a certain period until you sign out. If you access our website from a computer used by multiple people or a public computer (e.g. internet cafe), we strongly recommend signing out after each session. If you do not want the shared computer to store personal information and/or your login data, you must clear cookies and/or browsing history for website visits.
5. HOW LONG WE STORE YOUR DATA
We generally retain your personal data only as long as we have a legitimate interest in keeping it and provided your interest in discontinuing storage does not override it.
Even without a legitimate interest, we may retain data if we are legally or regulatorily required to do so, e.g. to comply with commercial and tax retention obligations. We delete your personal data automatically once their knowledge is no longer necessary to achieve the purpose of processing or further storage is otherwise unlawful.
Our specific retention periods for personal data are documented in our retention policies. How long we retain personal data may vary significantly depending on the context of the services we provide and our legal obligations. Factors such as the sensitivity of the data, the necessity of retaining data to provide the service, your consent to longer retention, contractual or similar retention obligations typically influence retention periods.
In general:
- Data processed in connection with an order will be deleted no later than after the statutory retention periods expire; and
- Data processed in connection with registration as a user will be deleted after termination of the registration or deletion of the customer account.
Personal data that we must retain to comply with retention obligations will be stored until the end of the respective retention period. Where we store personal data solely to fulfill retention obligations, it is typically blocked so that it can only be accessed to the extent necessary for the retention purpose.
6. DATA SECURITY
Classic Trader takes necessary technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal data from loss, unauthorized access or misuse. Your data is stored in a secure operational environment that is not accessible to the public.
If you contact us by e‑mail, please note that confidentiality of transmitted information cannot be guaranteed. The contents of e‑mails can be viewed by third parties.
We protect your data through technical and organizational measures to minimize risks related to loss, misuse, unauthorized access as well as unauthorized disclosure and alteration. For example, we use firewalls and data encryption as well as physical access restrictions for our data centers and access controls for data access. If you believe your account has been misused, please notify us at service@classic-trader.com.
7. YOUR RIGHTS: ACCESS, MODIFICATION, INFORMATION, RECTIFICATION, ERASURE, RESTRICTION AND OBJECTION
You can access, review and change your personal data by logging into your account. Please update your personal data promptly if it changes or is incorrect. Remember that you may not be able to change or remove a public contribution once it has been published.
We respect your statutory rights:
- You have the right to know what personal data we hold about you (Art. 15 GDPR). If your personal data is inaccurate or incomplete, you have the right to request that we correct or complete it (Art. 16 GDPR).
- You may request that we erase or restrict processing of your personal data; this right is subject to applicable law and may affect your access to some of our services (Art. 17 and 18 GDPR).
- We will provide you, upon request, a copy of your personal data in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format (Art. 20 GDPR).
- In certain cases (in particular when processing is based on our legitimate interest or for direct marketing) you have the right to object to processing of your personal data at any time pursuant to Art. 21 GDPR.
To request information and to determine whether fees may apply in accordance with applicable law, please contact us via the contact details below. If you have a right to access, correct or delete personal data, we may refuse such requests or refuse correction or deletion in certain circumstances in accordance with applicable national law.
If you ask us to stop processing your personal data in whole or in part or withdraw consent for use or disclosure of your personal data for the purposes listed in this privacy policy, we may not be able to provide all services and customer support that we offer under this privacy policy and our Terms of Use.
Please note, if you are a dealer, that your listing data may remain visible in the sales history in case of a successful sale. This happens if you mark your listing as “sold”. Listings are therefore deleted only in case of removal or expiration. Even paused listings are not automatically deleted.
Upon your request, we will close your account and delete your personal data as soon as possible based on your account activity and in accordance with applicable law. You can contact us at datenschutz@classic-trader.com.

Cookie Statement
(Cookies, web beacons and similar technologies)
Like most websites, we or our authorized service providers use cookies, web beacons and other similar technologies on our website www.classic-trader.com and our applications, services and tools to store data. These technologies are essentially small data files stored on your computer, tablet, mobile phone or other device that allow us to collect certain data each time you visit our website or use our services, applications, messaging functions and tools, to provide a better, faster and more secure user experience and to tailor content and advertising.
1. WHAT ARE COOKIES, WEB BEACONS AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES?
The specific names and types of cookies, web beacons and other similar technologies we use may change. To better explain this statement and our use of these technologies, we have compiled the following brief list of key terms and definitions:
“Cookies” are small files that enable us to store device- or user-related information on your PC while you visit our website. Cookies help us determine usage frequency and the number of users of our website and make our offerings as secure, comfortable and efficient as possible.
We use both so-called “session cookies”, which are stored only for the duration of your use of our website, and “persistent cookies” to record information about devices that repeatedly access our website. Persistent cookies allow us to provide an optimal user experience, “recognize” you and show refreshed content on repeat visits. The content of a persistent cookie is limited to an identification number. The lifespan of a persistent cookie is 100 days; after 100 days the cookie is automatically deleted. Name, IP address or other identifying information is not stored, and we do not create individual profiles of your usage behavior. You may also encounter “first-party cookies” set by the site you visit or “third-party cookies” set by another site.
Web beacons are small graphics files (also called “pixel tags” or “clear GIFs”) that may be included in our website, services, applications, messaging functions and tools and are usually used in conjunction with cookies to identify users or user behavior.
Similar technologies are technologies that use shared local objects or local storage functions such as Flash cookies, HTML5 cookies and other web application software methods to store data in your browser or on your device. These technologies may operate across all your browsers and in some cases are not fully managed by your browser but must be managed via installed applications or the device itself. We do not use these technologies to store data for ad personalization on our or third-party websites.
2. YOUR CHOICES AND OUR USE OF COOKIES, WEB BEACONS AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES
We may store cookies on your device if they are strictly necessary for the operation of our website (necessary cookies). For all other cookie types, especially for preferences, statistics and marketing, we require your consent.
Necessary cookies: We provide certain website functions, services, applications and tools that are only available through the use of these technologies. You can block, delete or disable these technologies at any time if your browser, installed application or device supports this. You can use our services without cookies by disabling cookie storage in your browser (e.g. Tools/Internet Options). Settings must be configured separately for each browser you use. Browsers provide different functions and options for this purpose. You can also delete cookies from your PC (e.g. Firefox: Tools > Options > Privacy > Show Cookies > Remove Cookie / Remove All Cookies; Internet Explorer: Tools > Internet Options > General Browsing History > Delete Cookies). Please note that doing so may limit the presentation of our website and reduce functionality.
Other cookies: We use cookies, web beacons and similar technologies for retargeting and remarketing to provide content, including ads, tailored to your interests in connection with our services or third-party online offerings. This includes using technologies to determine how relevant ads and content are to you, which ads were shown to you, how often, when and where they were shown and whether you took an action like clicking an ad or making a purchase. To this end we combine data with previously collected interest data. We also collect data about your device (e.g. operating system and version) to provide a consistent service across your devices.
You can revoke your consent to analytics, marketing and tracking cookies at any time. You can make granular choices in our privacy settings.
3. USE OF THESE TECHNOLOGIES BY AUTHORIZED EXTERNAL SERVICE PROVIDERS
We work with external companies (“service providers”) authorized to place third-party cookies, web beacons or similar technologies on our website or in our services, applications and tools with our permission. These service providers help us provide a better, faster and more secure user experience.
These service providers use these technologies to help deliver our content and ads and to produce anonymous website metrics and analytics. More information about Google Analytics is provided below in the Reach Measurement and Google Analytics section. We do not permit any of these service providers to collect personal data on our website or in our services, applications and tools for their own purposes. The use or collection of personal data by these service providers is subject to confidentiality agreements and other legal restrictions. Third-party cookies are subject to the privacy policies of the respective third parties.
Except for the use of these technologies by our service providers or other authorized third parties, we do not allow third-party content (such as offers, user communications, comments, reviews, etc.) on our website that contain or use cookies, web beacons or similar tracking technologies. If you suspect that an offering or third-party content on our website may collect personal data or use tracking technologies, please report it to service@classic-trader.com.
4. REACH MEASUREMENT AND GOOGLE ANALYTICS
Reach measurement SZMnG
Our website uses the “Scalable Central Measurement Procedure” (SZM) by INFOnline (https://www.infonline.de) to determine statistical usage metrics of our offerings. The purpose of this measurement is to determine the number of visits to our website, the number of website visitors and their browsing behavior statistically based on a uniform standard procedure to obtain market-comparable values. More information is provided in our privacy information on the “SZMnG” measurement procedure.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC (“Google”), to analyze and regularly improve the use of our website. The statistics obtained help us improve and make our offering more interesting for you. Google Analytics uses methods such as cookies that enable analysis of your website usage. The information generated about your use of this website is generally transmitted to and stored on a Google server in the USA. IP anonymization is activated on this website so that IP addresses are truncated within EU Member States or other Contracting States of the EEA before transmission. Only in exceptional cases and under appropriate safeguards will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and truncated there. Google uses the collected information to evaluate your use of the site, compile reports on website activity and provide other services related to website usage. The anonymized IP address transmitted by your browser in connection with Google Analytics will not be combined with other Google data.
We use Google Analytics in connection with your personal data only if you have previously given us your explicit consent. Your consent is the legal basis for using Google Analytics under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. You can decide about cookie settings via our privacy settings and you can deactivate previously enabled cookies. You can also disable cookies in your browser settings. Personal data collected in connection with Google Analytics is deleted or anonymized after 14 months.
Further information on settings and objection options and Google privacy can be found at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
We also use Google Analytics to evaluate data from AdWords and the DoubleClick cookie for statistical purposes. If you do not wish this, you can disable it in the Ads Settings Manager.
If you only want to disable or change Google Analytics with respect to interest-based content including ads, you can adjust your settings for the Google Display Network in the ad settings.

Privacy information on the “SZMnG” measurement procedure for reach measurement
Our website uses the measurement procedure (“SZMnG”) of INFOnline GmbH (https://www.INFOnline.de) to determine statistical metrics on the use of our offerings. The aim is to determine website visits, number of visitors and browsing behavior statistically — based on a standardized procedure — to yield market-comparable values.
For all digital offerings that are members of the Information Community for the Determination of Distribution of Advertising Media e.V. (IVW – http://www.ivw.eu) or participate in the studies of the Working Group Online Research e.V. (AGOF - http://www.agof.de), usage statistics are regularly processed by AGOF and the Working Group Media Analysis e.V. (agma – http://www.agma-mmc.de) into reach metrics and published with performance values like “Unique User” and by IVW with “Page Impression” and “Visits”. These reach metrics and statistics can be viewed on the respective websites.
1. Legal basis for processing
The measurement using the SZMnG procedure by INFOnline GmbH is carried out on the basis of legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
The purpose of processing personal data is the creation of statistics and formation of user categories. Statistics serve to document and analyze usage of our offering. For marketing this website, comparable audience measurement is indispensable. Our legitimate interest arises from the economic value of insights from statistics and the market value of our website — including comparison with other websites.
Additionally, we have a legitimate interest in providing pseudonymized data to INFOnline and IVW for statistical purposes. Measurement with the SZMnG procedure by INFOnline for participation in the agof study is conducted with your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR.
The purpose of processing is to create statistics and user categories. User categories form the basis for targeted advertising. For marketing this website, comparable measurement is essential. Pseudonymized data is provided to INFOnline and agof e.V. for market research (agof, agma).
2. Types of data
INFOnline GmbH collects the following data which can be related to a person under the GDPR:
- IP address: Each internet device needs an address to transmit data. Short-term storage of the IP address is technically necessary. IP addresses are truncated by one byte before any processing and only processed anonymously thereafter. The untruncated IP addresses are not stored or further processed.
- A randomly generated client identifier: Measurement uses either a third‑party cookie, a first‑party cookie, a local storage object or a signature created from various automatically transmitted browser information to re‑identify systems. This identifier is unique for a browser as long as the cookie or local storage object remains. Measurement and assignment to the client identifier is possible even when you visit other sites using INFOnline’s SZMnG. Cookie validity is limited to one year.
3. Use of data
INFOnline’s measurement procedure collects usage data to determine performance metrics Page Impressions, Visits and Clients. In the agof study, further metrics (e.g. qualified clients) are derived. Measured data is used as follows:
- Geolocation (assigning a page view to a region) is performed based on the anonymized IP address only and only to the level of federal states/regions. No inference of a user’s exact location is possible.
- Usage data of a technical client (e.g. browser on a device) is merged across websites and stored in a database. This information is technically used to estimate socio-demographic attributes such as age and gender and is provided to AGOF service providers for further processing. In the AGOF study, socio-demographic attributes are estimated from a random sample and assigned to categories like age, gender, nationality, professional activity, marital status, household information, household income, place of residence, internet usage, online interests, usage location, user type.
4. Data retention
INFOnline does not store the full IP address. The truncated IP address is stored for a maximum of 60 days. Usage data linked to the unique identifier is stored for up to 6 months.
5. Data disclosure
Neither the full IP address nor the truncated IP address are disclosed. For the AGOF study, data with client identifiers are shared with the following AGOF service providers:
- Kantar Deutschland GmbH (https://www.tns-infratest.com/)
- Ankordata GmbH & Co. KG (http://www.ankordata.de/homepage/)
- Interrogare GmbH (https://www.interrogare.de/)
6. Rights of the data subject
The data subject has the following rights:
- Right of access (Art. 15 GDPR)
- Right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR)
- Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR)
- Right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
- Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18)
- Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
